1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of rubbish removal services provided by Junk Guy Rubbish Removal Ltd (referred to as “Junk Guy”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). By engaging our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

Our registered office address is in London, United Kingdom. We operate as a licensed waste carrier under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and related regulations.

2. Definitions

In these Terms and Conditions, the following definitions apply:

  • “Customer” refers to any person or business that engages Junk Guy to provide rubbish removal services.
  • “Services” refers to the rubbish removal, waste disposal, and related services provided by Junk Guy.
  • “Waste” refers to all materials collected by Junk Guy during the provision of Services.
  • “Prohibited Items” refers to items that Junk Guy cannot legally collect or dispose of, as detailed in Section 4.
  • “Quote” refers to the estimated cost for Services provided by Junk Guy to the Customer before work commences.

3. Service Description

Junk Guy provides rubbish removal services throughout London and the South East, including:

  • Household waste collection and disposal
  • Commercial waste clearance
  • Garden waste removal
  • Construction debris removal
  • Bulky item collection
  • Office clearance
  • House clearance

We aim to provide same-day or next-day service where possible, but timing is subject to availability and cannot always be guaranteed, especially during peak periods.

4. Prohibited Items

Junk Guy cannot collect or dispose of the following prohibited items:

  • Hazardous waste, including asbestos, chemicals, and toxic materials
  • Medical waste
  • Gas bottles or fire extinguishers
  • Paints and oils (except in small quantities and with prior agreement)
  • Tyres
  • Batteries (car and industrial)
  • Any materials prohibited by current environmental legislation

The Customer must inform Junk Guy if they believe their waste may contain any prohibited items. Junk Guy reserves the right to refuse collection of any waste containing prohibited items.

5. Quotes and Pricing

All quotes are based on information provided by the Customer and are subject to the following conditions:

  • Quotes are valid for 7 days from the date of issue.
  • Quotes are subject to inspection at the time of collection.
  • If the volume or type of waste differs from what was described when the quote was provided, Junk Guy reserves the right to revise the quote or refuse collection.
  • Additional charges may apply for items requiring special handling or disposal.
  • Quotes are typically based on volume (the amount of space your waste occupies in our vehicle).
  • For large commercial jobs, pricing may be based on weight or specific requirements.

The Customer will be informed of any price changes before work commences and has the right to cancel if the revised price is not acceptable.

6. Payment Terms

The following payment terms apply to all services:

  • Payment is due immediately upon completion of the service unless alternative arrangements have been agreed in writing.
  • We accept payment by cash, credit/debit card, and bank transfer.
  • For commercial customers, we may offer payment terms with prior agreement.
  • Late payments may incur interest charges at 8% above the Bank of England base rate.
  • The Customer remains responsible for payment even if a third party is expected to pay on their behalf.

7. Cancellation Policy

Our cancellation policy is as follows:

  • Cancellations made more than 24 hours before the scheduled collection time will not incur a fee.
  • Cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled collection time may incur a cancellation fee of 25% of the quoted price.
  • If our team has already been dispatched or has arrived at your location, a cancellation fee of 50% of the quoted price may apply.
  • We reserve the right to charge the full quoted price if we arrive at the collection address and are unable to gain access or the waste is not available for collection.

If you need to reschedule, please contact us as soon as possible, and we will try to accommodate your request without additional charges when possible.

8. Customer Responsibilities

The Customer is responsible for:

  • Providing accurate information about the waste to be collected.
  • Ensuring that the waste does not contain any prohibited items as listed in Section 4.
  • Ensuring legal ownership of the waste or having proper authorization to dispose of it.
  • Providing reasonable access to the waste for collection.
  • Obtaining any necessary permits or permissions for waste collection (e.g., parking suspensions if required).
  • Identifying any potential hazards or access issues before collection.

Failure to meet these responsibilities may result in additional charges or refusal to provide the service.

9. Liability and Insurance

Junk Guy maintains comprehensive public liability and waste carrier insurance. However:

  • We are not liable for any damage caused to property by our vehicles or staff unless it is due to negligence on our part.
  • We are not responsible for damage to driveways, paths, or gardens if we have been instructed to drive onto them.
  • We cannot be held responsible for any items mistakenly disposed of during the clearance process.
  • Our maximum liability for any claim is limited to the fee paid for the service.
  • We are not liable for any consequential loss arising from our services.

The Customer should remove any valuable or personal items from the waste before collection.

10. Environmental Compliance

Junk Guy is committed to environmentally responsible waste management:

  • We hold all necessary waste carrier licenses required by the Environment Agency.
  • We will provide a Waste Transfer Note for commercial collections when requested.
  • We aim to recycle as much collected waste as possible and dispose of non-recyclable waste in accordance with current legislation.
  • We will not fly-tip or illegally dispose of waste under any circumstances.
  • We work with licensed waste disposal facilities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

11. Data Protection

Junk Guy complies with the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR:

  • We collect and process personal data only as necessary to provide our services.
  • We do not sell or share customer data with third parties for marketing purposes.
  • Customer data may be shared with regulatory authorities if required by law.
  • We retain customer data only for as long as necessary for legal and business purposes.
  • Customers have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of their personal data.

12. Complaints Procedure

If you are dissatisfied with our service:

  2. We will acknowledge your complaint within 2 business days.
  3. We will investigate your complaint and provide a full response within 14 days.
  4. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may escalate your complaint to the relevant regulatory authority.

13. Modifications to Terms and Conditions

Junk Guy reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time:

  • Updated terms will be posted on our website with the effective date.
  • Significant changes will be communicated to regular customers.
  • Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
